Pose of the week!! Pigeon pose or #kapotasana
In the Yoga Sutra, Patanjali defines practice as “effort towards steadiness”. In these extended, quieter holds, you get to explore this idea, tethering our sometimes scattered attention by following the breath as it moves in and out, finding stillness as you open and expand. + I feel this week - pigeon has been needed more than ever. There are of course variations if you funky knees then you can adjust by laying on your back or using blankets or blocks under your hips and forehead.
I personally like rolling my forehead gently from side to side over my hands or the floor to iron out and tension + the longer you are able to breath and hold this position the more your body will release in to it + you’ll feel the benefits of your body (shoulders, knees + hips especially) softening.
Just remember the leg that is bent may have a surge as your blood flows back in to it when you lift out so hinge forward and backwards a couple times and then repeat on the other leg
(+ of course practice preparatory poses to warm up to this pose to avoid injury)
