Its Self-Care Saturday again! Today's tip is on your skin care routine... For optimum results, you should have a regular skin care routine that you follow every day. There are 5 basic products that you should incorporate into your routine: face wash, face scrub, face mask, toner and moisturiser. You can also add serums, eye creams and essence sprays as well if you wish. Below is a run down on how and when to use each product: ~ Face wash - You should use a face wash both morning and night, every day. This is arguably the most important part of a skin care routine, as well as the most basic. Solid soap bars can be lathered up on your hands or applied directly to your face, with a small amount of water.
~ Face scrub - You should use a gentle scrub 2-3 times a week, before you wash your face, and preferably in the morning. Scrubs which are made of sugar or walnut are way too harsh and abrasive for the skin on your face, so should be avoided. Gently rub the scrub onto your face in small, circular motions. Our citrus scrub soap can be used daily as it is so gentle, and the scrub particles are on the top and bottom of the bar, so you can use those sides on days you want to use a face scrub.
~ Toner - Toners remove any excess dirt, grime and oil from your skin and should be used on clean, dry skin every day, morning and night, after you have washed your skin. They may not feel like they're doing much, buy I promise, they are!
~ Face mask - Masks should be used 2-3 times a week, preferably on clean skin. Make sure you clean the excess away with a toner to prevent any irritation from lingering product.
~ Moisturiser - A moisturiser with SPF is much better than one without. If you don't have a moisturiser with SPF, then make sure you apply suncream afterwards. Moisturisers should be applied every day, morning and night and they should be the last part of your routine (besides SPF). Even if you have oily skin, moisturisers are important to ensure your skin doesn't over produce oils and make your skin even oilier!
