Do you find you’re starting to notice them too? The beautiful little things?
The birds chirping their joyful melodies.
The splish-splash of puddles as they cool off your feet.
The comforting blur of earthy tones as you keep your stride.
The smell of sweet pine whisping through the air.
The laughter of a loved one echoing through the trails.
The flora’s bursting pink, yellow, and purple hues.
The full, rejuvenating inhale of crisp mountain air.
The exhale of judgment and worries, on the trails way out there,
The ability to continue forward, one foot at a time, without a care.
With social isolation constantly on my mind,
I’ve found that my trail time has drastically declined. .
But, at the same time.
I’ve found that these restrictions on the outdoors have heightened my senses, putting me acutely in tune with every ounce of appreciation I have for being outside. For my condensed one or two hours outside each day, I head out with a deeper intention to soak in and cherish these moments that I love. Because I still have them. .
And what a privilege it is,
To still have them. .
Even if a little different,
For now. .
Sometimes the uncomfortable threat of losing it all,
Is what’s required for us to remember
Just how much appreciation we have,
How truly grateful we are:
For open spaces.
For love and growth.
For fresh, mountain air.
So, what are the beautiful little things
that you’re starting to notice?
